The Provincial System Support Program (PSSP) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is supporting Ontario Health’s Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence to develop recommendations and advice to prepare for the federal expansion of “Track 2” MAiD in March 2024, where mental illness is the “Sole Underlying Medical condition.” To inform this work, PSSP is engaging with system partners on information needs and system enhancements in Ontario.

PSSP will share details about work underway at the provincial level to support readiness and facilitate discussions with participants to identify other relevant learning and capacity building initiatives occurring in the mental health and addictions sector.

Presenters:

Jill Shakespeare, MSW, MBA. is the Senior Director of the Provincial System Support Program at CAMH.. She has worked extensively in the health, settlement and social services sectors, supporting implementation and improvement at the organizational, community and systems level.

Lindsay Turner is a Consultant for Knowledge Mobilization and Public Awareness in at the Provincial System Support Program at CAMH. She supports a range of strategic planning, project management and stakeholder engagement supports for system partners. Prior to joining CAMH, Lindsay worked in the Government of Ontario and Government of Canada, leading a variety of human service transformation initiatives.

Matt Hollingshead is the Sr. Innovation Specialist at the Provincial System Support Program at CAMH. He specializes in program design and helping groups of diverse stakeholders to better understand and address the complex issues facing contemporary health and social service systems.

Learning Objectives:

  • To learn about work underway at the provincial level to support readiness in the MHA sector for MAiD for MD
  • To understand potential system innovations being proposed to support access and safety for MAiD for MD
  • To identify and share other relevant learning and capacity building initiatives occurring in the sector
