May 13, 2025 (Toronto, ON) — Addictions and Mental Health Ontario (AMHO) congratulates Prime Minister Mark Carney and the newly appointed federal cabinet members following today’s swearing-in ceremony at Rideau Hall.
As mental health and addictions challenges continue to rise across the country, AMHO looks forward to working with the new Federal Minister of Health, Hon. Marjorie Michel, and her cabinet colleagues to ensure these issues remain a top priority.
While the responsibilities for mental health and addictions have now been integrated into the broader health portfolio, a clear and coordinated strategy is needed to maintain federal momentum on this file and deliver meaningful progress. Continued focus, leadership, and investment are essential to meet the growing demand for care in communities across Ontario.
Addressing the complexities of mental health and addictions will require coordinated action across all three levels of government. AMHO remains committed to sharing the experience and expertise of our membership with federal, provincial, and local leader to help strengthen access to high-quality programs and services. Together, we can ensure that everyone has access to the mental health and addictions support they need, where and when they need it.
